HOT STONE Reflexology
Hot Stone Reflexology combines the healing art of Reflexology with the placement of comfortably hot stones to deeply relax the body and bring a feeling of harmony to both the body and mind. Warmed organic oils/wax blends such as apricot kernel, almond, jojoba or coconut are applied to the feet and lower legs for a flowing therapeutic treatment.
The warmth of heated volcanic stones is used to enhance the reflexology treatment by placing the stones on specific reflex points, or gently massaging the stones over reflex and relaxation areas. The lower legs are incorporated into the treatment to release tension in the calf muscles and enhance energy flow.
Stones can also be applied to the corresponding area of the body during the treatment. For example by applying wrapped hot stones to the shoulder muscles and treating the shoulder reflexes on the feet with smaller hot stones.
A full treatment takes 60 minutes, is deeply relaxing and effective, so I highly recommend booking at a time that allows rest and no further commitments to the day.
Please be reassured that the heating of the stones is temperature controlled and stones are never introduced directly to the skin straight from the heater. All stones and equipment are cleansed between every treatment.
Contra-indications
Same as that for reflexology with the added considerations:
Where there is :
Nerve damage or Neuropathy and resultant loss of feeling, e.g. Raynards Disease, MS
Immune dysfunction e.g. Chronic Fatigue syndrome
Prescription medication where side effects are encurred through heat or temperature changes
Poor skin condition, elderly
Children
....It is possible to give a stone treatment with a reduced temperature however I would recommend standard reflexology without applied heat.
Where there are :
Varicous veins
Rheumatoid Arthritus
Skin conditions aggravated by heat e.g. Dermititisis
....Then heat should NOT be applied however cold stones may be of benefit.
I will not use Hot stones on anyone during pregnancy, standard Reflexology is ideal especially in the final trimester.
